Scholarship Amount: $2,000 (renewable for up to two years)
Number of Scholarships Available
 1 General Line Worker Scholarship
 1 Female Line Worker Scholarship (if applicable)
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
 Must be a resident of Kansas
 Must be a graduating High School Senior or equivalent or recent High School Graduate or equivalent
 Must pursue a degree in Electric Power and Distribution in Kansas
 Must be eligible to obtain a Commercial Drivers License
 Must enroll as a full-time student in degree program (does not have to be enrolled prior to scholarship award, but must be a
full-time student in degree program to receive award)
 Must maintain 2.5 G.P.A during degree program
 If 18, must be willing to submit to a Motor Vehicle Records Check (drug free with no DUI convictions)
Program Selection Process
Consideration for a Line Worker Scholarship will be given to applicants who:
 Submit a completed application and essay by March 15, 2013
 If selected, must attend one-day Climbing Camp
 Complete a Job Fit Survey (given during camp)
 Participate in a personal interview (given during camp)
Camp Date: April 5, 2013
Camp Location: Professional Development Center, 801 NE US Highway 24, Topeka, KS

Additional benefits for scholarship recipients include access to a professional mentor through both the Ellis Foundation and Westar
Energy, an opportunity for direct placement into a technical school program, and a potential opportunity for an internship and/or
employment with Westar Energy. Direct placement into a technical school program is restricted to specific schools.
