BBB Scholarship

Application deadline is Friday March 7, 2014.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) wishes to remind you about its 2014 Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Awards. Eight students will each be granted $2,000 college scholarships: two from South Dakota, two from metro Omaha and southwest Iowa, two from the Kansas Plains area (all KS counties except Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Wyandotte), and two from metro Lincoln and greater Nebraska.

These scholarships are not based on ethnicity, need or grade point average, but recognize students of integrity who represent the values of the BBB . They are awarded to students who exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity and who demonstrate humility, courage, compassion and respect for their peers, teachers and community.

We encourage you to share this information with your staff and students. Aside from the obvious benefit to the students, please be aware that this is also a wonderful opportunity for your institution to be publicly recognized. Scholarship winners will be honored at the BBB’s Integrity Award Events in the fall and will be congratulated in releases to television, radio and print media.

The application guide with full details and required forms can be downloaded at bbb.org. For additional information, please contact BBB Communications Director Margo Riekes at 402-898-8526, 800-649-6814 #8526 or mriekes@bbbnebraska.org. We look forward to rewarding eight well-deserving seniors for upholding high ethical standards. BBB Foundation Invites High School Seniors to Apply for the 2014 Student of Integrity Award Scholarships

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization of the Better Business Bureau, Inc., invites high school seniors throughout its service area to apply for its annual Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Awards. In 2014, eight students will each be granted $2,000 college scholarships: two from the Kansas Plains area, two from South Dakota, two from metro Lincoln and greater Nebraska and two from metro Omaha and southwest Iowa.

The Student of Integrity Award Scholarships were created in 2007 to recognize and nurture future ethical business leaders and to honor the memory of Scott Mecham, who served as BBB president from 1991 until January, 2006. The Winners will be selected by four panels of independent judges representing the academic and business communities in Wichita, KS, Sioux Falls, SD, Lincoln and Omaha, NE. They consider each student’s character, leadership, academics and the content of their essays. The students who are granted the scholarships will be those who best demonstrate their commitment to honesty and accountability both inside and outside the classroom.

The award Winners will be announced in April 2014 and recognized at a BBB Integrity Awards Luncheon in the fall. “It is always a very difficult task for the judges to choose the Winners because of the fine quality of the applications. But now, more than ever, it is important to reward our students, our future leaders, for their integrity. Receiving applications for these scholarships is confirmation that moral character and the understanding of ethics are alive and well in students throughout our BBB’s service area,” said BBB President and CEO Jim Hegarty.

The application guide with full details and required forms can be downloaded at bbb.org. For more information, please contact BBB Communications Director Margo Riekes at 402-898-8526, 800-649-6814 #8526 ormriekes@bbbnebraska.org. The BBB and its Foundation look forward to rewarding eight well-deserving students for upholding high ethical standards. Application deadline is Friday March 7, 2014.

MFA Foundation Scholarship

See Mrs. Smith for the application
Applications due March 15th, 2014

The MFA Foundation was established in 1958 with the primary purpose of providing greater educational opportunity for the youth in our trade territory.

The Foundation’s major activity is its Scholarship Program, which has provided financial assistance to nearly 10,000 college and university students from rural communities since its initiation in 1965.

Every spring approximately 300 graduating high school seniors receive MFA scholarships, co-sponsored by the MFA Foundation and local MFA agencies.

The MFA Foundation makes gifts directly and generally, in an unrestricted manner, to private colleges. While the college scholarship program constitutes the main thrust of the MFA Foundation, the Foundation also pursues other worthwhile projects.

The Foundation also contributes to other programs that are consistent with the Foundation’s original purpose of providing educational opportunity for youth. Included in these programs are: Missouri 4-H Foundation, Missouri FFA Association, Missouri Young Farmers Association and Missouri Young Farm Wives Associations.
