Washburn Leadership Institute – Scholarships

Scholarships for Incoming Students


Each year the Leadership Institute awards Leadership Scholarships to students based on:

  • A record of academic achievement
  • Evidence of leadership initiative at school and in the community
  • Demonstrated social and communication skills

Total scholarship value ranges in amounts from $2,000 to $8,000.

  • Complete the application
  • Typed leadership essay
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one letter must be from someone who has directly observed your leadership abilities and skills)

3.  Finalists will be notified no later than January 30, 2015.

4.  Participation in Interview Day on February 13, 2015 is required for all selected finalists.

5.  Scholarship recipients will be announced no later than March 6, 2015.  Scholarship recipients accepting the Leadership Scholarship will then agree to the scholarship requirements and responsibilities.

You can receive funding for college while gaining valuable experience through our scholarships!  Activity scholarships that pay for in-state tuition and provide a book allowance (all books are provided and returned at the end of the semester) are available in:

Additional cash endowed scholarships are available for Art students.

You are not required to major in the field for which the scholarship is granted.

Formal auditions and interviews are conducted on Fine Arts Days held Saturday, February 7, 2015 and Friday, March 6, 2015 for the Fall 2015 semester. Students are encouraged to attend a Fine Arts Day, however individual auditions may be scheduled as time allows. Contact the specific program or department for availability. Occasionally, additional scholarships are awarded during the Fall for the following Spring semester.

Fine Arts Day information (schedule of events, offline registration form and requirements/fact sheet) will be available in December 2014.

Audition Information

Each department has different requirements for their audition and interview process.  It is possible to audition for multiple departments, though you can only accept one scholarship.  To learn how to prepare for your audition or interview, select from the appropriate department in the “Pages in Fine Arts & Communication Scholarships” navigation list.
